Erratic inquiries of Stowe Boyd, who means well, despite everything.

climateadaptation:

Forget the blimp and pay attention to the key phrase: “Arctic mines and oil rigs.” The Arctic will be drilled.

To resupply Arctic mines and oil rigs, roads are expensive (if not simply out of the question). A new company is building fast and efficient helium-fueled blimps to get the needed supplies to workers up north. Read more.

I obviously need to write a science fiction novel whose protagonist is a dark, brooding, ne’er-do-well antihero working as the pilot of one of these neo-blimps, his odd-ball crew of misfits, and a world falling into a fiscal, ecological, and societal collapse. Provisional title: Northwest Passage (with apologies to Kenneth Roberts). Would also include reference to the Bering Tunnel being contemplated these days, which would be part of the near-past in the novel.
